Challenge
Petrobras faced a manual and inefficient process to monitor 200-300 official publications daily from multiple sources (Federal Official Gazette, state and municipal newspapers). With only 2 hours to process the entire volume, the team dealt with high operational risk, frequent human errors, ambiguity in relevance classification (resulting in false positives and negatives), and lack of visibility regarding the status of analyses. The decentralized and non-standardized process compromised the identification of critical legal and fiscal obligations.
Solution
Conducted meetings with stakeholders to map manual workflows and identify specific pain points.
Created detailed flowcharts, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes, iteratively validating them with real users. Considering the technical limitations of the development team, I proposed using frameworks like Bootstrap to standardize components and facilitate implementation.
The final design organized the classification process intuitively, reducing complexity and ambiguity in decision-making.
Impact
We transformed a manual, high-risk, low-visibility process into an efficient, predictable, and auditable digital operation.
The solution reduced daily operational time by 75%, increased the accuracy of tax classification, and established a new benchmark for productivity and governance for the client Petrobras.
